There are two sonography schools in Arkansas. The larger is at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock. Arkansas State University in Jonesboro also has a sonography department. The Arkansas sonography schools feature small classes, graduating an average of 20 students a year between them. Certifications, associate’s degrees and bachelor’s degrees are among the credentials that can be earned. Four-year degrees may be limited to those who have previously been certified by The American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography. A wide variety of techniques are taught in Arkansas sonography schools. Certificates and degrees are available in ultrasound, MRI and radiology.

Mean salary in 2010 was $56,230. Ultrasound technicians are the highest paid sonographers in Arizona. Radiological and cardiac imaging specialists are second in demand.
